ASSEMBLY COMPRISING A HEAT SOURCE AND ASSOCIATED APPARATUS

An assembly including a heat source, e.g,, a nuclear reactor, is peripherally supported so as to allow of expansion and contraction in radial direction relative to an immovable axis of the heat source. It is associated with a massive apparatus which is connected to the heat source supported so as to be capable of moving as dictated by the expansion or contraction of the heat source, by the expansion or cortraction of the means connecting the heat source and said apparatus, and by its own expansion or cortraction. The heat source and said apparatus are supported in a plane which is common to both and which is at right angles to the said sxis and contains the axis of the connecting means. The said connecting means is preferably a co-axial conduit providing two-way connection between the heat source and said apparatus, the inner duct being preferably the outflow from the heat source. The means for supporting the heat source preferably comprises suppcrting structures disposed peripherally around the heat source, projections of the heat source being mounted on rollers supported by said structures. The means for supporting the said apparatus may be similar to the means for supporting the heat source. (NPO)
