An assembly comprising a reactor connected to one or more heat exchangers is designed with supporting means which allows heat expansion or contraction of the reactor and/or heat exchangers. The supporting means comprises rollers or ball bearings disposed between pillars and spaced lugs attached to the reactor and heat exchangers, the plane of support being in the same plane as that of the axis of the connecting ducting which is of two-way coaxial construction. Embodiments of the invention are described for gas-cooled reactors. (D.L.C.)
