STRUCTURE OF ARC DISCHARGE IN ARGON. II. ARC RADIUS AND RADIAL DISTRIBUTIONS (in Russian)

The shape of radial electric conductivity sigma (r) in argonhydrogen mixtures was analyzed, and it is shown that it is not a function of the current and hydrogen pressure and is well approximated by the function sigma (r) = exp STA-(r/r/sub 0.5/)e ln2!. The selected column radius, r = r/sub 0.5/, is qualified by the condition sigma (r/sub 0/5/) = 0.5. sigma mix. The obtained data were used in developing formulas for current, radial distribution of temperature, and heat transfer coefficient. (tr-auth)
