STRUCTURE OF ARC DISCHARGE IN ARGON. I. LOCAL ELECTRIC CHARACTERISTICS (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Zh. Tekhn. Fiz.
OSTI ID:4766718
Field intensity, radial distribution of charged particles (along the contour line of hydrogen H/sub BETA /), and temperature were measured in arc discharge in argon-hydrogen mixtures. Radial distributions of electric conductivity and current density were calculated. The calculations utilized new, more precise formulas. An equilibrium plasma (i = 10 to 200 amp) and a nonequilibrium plasma (i = 4 amp) were measured. Current calculations according to j(r) distribution are in good agreement with the factual current. No indications of pinch were found. (tr-auth)
