MULTIPLE MESON PRODUCTION IN 7 Gev $pi$$sup -$-CARBON NUCLEUS COLLISIONS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4779735
An investigation of 101 stars, representing central collisions of pi / sup -/-mesons at 7 Bev/c with C nuclei in a propane bubble chamber is reported. A central collision means the collision with two or more protons engaged. The number of secondary mesons increases with increasing number of engaged protons and is in average greater, than in similar energy pi meson--nucleon collisions. Results were compared with the tunnel and the cascade model of collision. The cascade model is in much better agreement with the experimental results. (auth)
