Digitalization in Atomic Pile Control; LA DIGITALISATION DANS LE CONTROLE DES PILES ATOMIQUES

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4775463
A survey is given of the general theorems of Boole's algebra and of sequence systems using D. A. Huffman's theory. Indications are also given concerning the setting-up and operation of digital computers and the principal codes used in digital techniques. It is shown how digitalization in atomic pile control makes it possible to use new techniques which promote greater working safety, a higher degree of centralization, and suppression of the linear elements, Examples are given of the application of these techniques to control, particularly with respect to the measurements of the neutronic power. the period, and the treatment of these data and the sequence automatisms. The advantage of using digital techniques in the shutdown channels is also examined. A review of the technology and the viability of the control devices used is included. (auth)
