An analytical approach to the stability of linear and nonlinear reactor kinetic equations is applied to the cases of constant power removal and Newton's law of cooling model. From the comparison of the results between linear and nonlinear analyses, stability criteria are obtained for each of these models, in terms of the temperature coefficient and other thermal properties of the reactor materials. It is proved that the delayed neutron fraction does not have any effect on the stability criterion or on the equilibrium values of power and temperature. The delayed neutron fraction does, however, reduce the maximum power and affect the behavior in approaches to equilibrium values. (auth)
