SOME DETERMINATIONS OF Sr$sup 90$ IN CUTTLEBONE (SEPIA BONE)

Journal Article · · Energia Nucl. (Milan)
OSTI ID:4772961
Measurements were made of the Sr/sup 90/ content of bones from cuttle- fish in the Adriatic and Ligurian Seas. The fish were collected during the period from November 1961 to May 1962. The bones were cleaned, ground, and heated. After the separation of the Sr- Ca content, the strontium was determined by flame photometry. The radioactivity was determined by counting with a low- background endwindow beta counter. The specific activity of the samples from the Adriatic Sea was higher than that of samples from the ligurian Sea. This was in agreement with the activity for Sr/sup 90/ in the water of the two seas.
