GROSS BETA RADIOACTIVITY OF PLANKTON SAMPLES COLLECTED IN THE ADRIATIC AND LIGURIAN SEAS FROM MAY 1961 TO NOVEMBER 1962

Gross beta radioactivity was determined in 31 samples of plankton collected in the Adriatic and Ligurian Seas from May 1961 to November 1962. Some decay curves are reported which show approximate half lives similar to those of mixtures of fission products. The specific activities of samples are given at 15, 200, and 365 days after collection. The experimental results are plotted against the date of collection and a correlation is shown between the activity level and the occurrence of atmosphere nuclear tests. (auth)
