Data are tabulated on characteristics in R/sub 2/ and R/sub 3/ generations from radioinduced mutations of maize and wheat. The relation between dose of radiation and increase of genetie variance for quantitative traits is discussed. Observations on the R/sub 2/ and R/sub 3/ generations were used in a pilot selection experiment with Triticum durum, carried out under controlled selfing, on the relative amount of the additivity of the new genetic variation induced by the radiation treatment.
