A simple liquid scinti ilation device which permits the C/sup 14/ activities to be measured with counter yields up to 66% is described. As investigations with various scintillation mixtures show, very reasonable substances, such as pterphenyl, can be introduced in routine operations in combination with optical phosphors with good luminescence yield. Generally, measurements can be carried out in concentration ranges (of the substance to be measured) in which no modification of the luminescence quenching occurs (tr-auth)
