A VAN DE GRAAFF BEAM DEFLECTING SYSTEM EMPLOYING TWO 45 DEFLECTING MAGNETS

Journal Article · · Nucl. Instr. Methods
Two 45 deg deflecting magnets were used to form a telescopic system and deflect the beam from a Van de Graaff accelerator through 90 deg . Energy measurement and stabilization was achieved without loss of primary beam by taking correcting signals from slits placed at the focus of the mass 3 particles. The circuits used to stabilize the magnetic fields are described in detail. The throughput, statility, and focussing properties of the system were tested experimentally and shown to be satisfactory.
