The effect of x irradiation on the mitotic index and metaphise/prophase quotient in mouse bone marrow cultivated in vivo in a homologous host was studied. The mitotic index was lowered in bone marrow from donors irridiated with 200 and 50 r and the metaphase/prophase quotient was raised, Bone marrow from donors irridiated with a dose of 10 r did not differ significantly in respect of these indicators from bone marrow from non-irradiated donors.
