BOILER FOR THE RECOVERY OF HEAT OF A PRESSURIZED FLUID

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4766843
A boiler for the recovery of heat from a pressurized fluid comprises a pressure vessel composed of a spherical evaporating chamber and two cylindrical parts disposed coaxially at the top and bottom of this evaporating chamber. These two chambers communicate mutually via a cylindrical connection passing through the center of the evaporating chamber, the tubes of the economizer and evaporator being placed in the lower cylindrical chamber, while the tubes of the superheater are disposed in the upper one. The cylindrical connection is double walled. Steam-water separators are disposed within the evaporating chamber. The transition from the open extremities of the cylindrical to the inner surfaces connection of the cylindrical chambers is performed by baffle sheets having the shape of truncated cones. For assembling the cylindrical chamber with the spherical evaporating chamber, the open edges of the cylindrical walls provided with castle-nuts are welded onto the outer surface of the evaporating chamber. The tightness of this connection is ensured by thin toroidal sheets welded to both the evaporating chamber wall and to the inner surfaces of the cylinders. Preferably the interspace between these toroidal sheets and the baffle sheets is filled with thermal insulating material. (NPO)
