>SOPHIST Il is an IBM 709/7090 code, compatible with Monitor, which calculates temperature-dependent fluxweighted group cross sections for use in multigroup neutronic calculations. The moderator model is a Maxwell gas. The input flux spectrum is specified analytically and/or pointwise. The input cross- section data can be analytic l/v, a series of single-level Breit Wigner resonances, pointwise, and/or a pointwise deviation from l/v. An optional feature allows for self-shielding in absorbing foils. The code allows 90 energy groups, 131 pointwise fluxes, 100 resonances, and 400 (minus the number of resonances) pointwise cross sections. (auth)
