The computer program SOPHIST-5, in FORTRAN II for the IBM 7090/7094, calculates anisotropic-elastic scattering matrices for multigroup neutronic calculations. The output is suitable for diffusion or transport-corrected SN codes of 120 groups or less. The input uses cross sections expressed as Legendre expansions (through 1 = 6) in terms of laboratory or center-of-mass scattering cosines. The theory is presented, and input and output are discussed. A sample problem is also included. (auth)
