THREE ELEMENT TRIPLE COINCIDENCE COMPTON SPECTROMETER

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4764007

A scintillation coincidence spectrometer is designed for detecting only gamma rays converted by the Compton process. The spectrometer comprises three scintillation crystals, a first detector optically coupled to all three crystals, a second detector coupled to the first crystal, a third detector coupled to the second crystal, and a measuring system responsive to the output of the first detector only when it is coincident with the outputs of the second and third detectors. An embodiment of the spectrometer is described for well logging. (D.L.C.)
