A Nb-base alloy is described which has good oxidation resistance, high creep strength, and good low-temperature ductility. The alloy comprises 20% W, 0.5 to 2% Zr or Hf, 0.01 to 0.2% C, and balance Nb; the atomic ratio of Zr or Hf to C must be in the range of 0.5 to 1.5. The effects of the Zr/C ratio on the creep rate of Nb-20% W alloys containing 1.0 and 0.5% Zr are shown. (D.L.C.)
