A fluidized pellet-bed reactor is designed for power production. The moderator-coolant flow controls the fission process by controlling the geometric pattern of the pellets, and in event of pump failure, the pellets will collapse into a noncritical position. Storage chambers for new and used peliets are provided with hydraulic means for transporting the pellets between the chambers and the reactor vessel. The advantages of this reactor over other reactor types are discussed. (D.L.C.)
