THE ISOTOPE EFFECT OF CARBON IN THE CARBON DISULFIDE/XANTHOGENATE SYSTEM (in German)

The elementary separation factor for the exchange of the carbon isotope in the potassium ethyl xanthogenate/disulfide or potassium methyl xanthogenate/ disulfide systems was approximately 1.04. Special research made possible a distinction of this thermodynamic isotope effect from the kinetic isotope effect in the decomposition of aqueous xanthogenate solutions with acids. The determination of the isotope exchange velocity in various buffer solutions and the probable exchange mechanism were reported with the help of C/sup 13/S/sub 2/. (tr-auth)
