Selected Motorola transistors of the MM-486, MM-487, and MM-488 type are useful for avalanche-mode operation. A test circuit is described for selecting avalanche wits. Generally, 10 to 30% of the transistors will avalanche, although the low-beta type (MM-486) appears to give the best yield. The time delay and temperature effects are described briefly. (D.L.C.)
