The effects of gamma radiation on the electric conductivity of glasses and the applicability of the irradiated glasses to semiconductive glass or radiation dosimeters are discussed. Ten kinds of glasses were irradiated by a 100-c Co/sup 60/ source up to a max dosage of 10/sup 7/ r. The electric conductivity of each sample was measured by a vacuum tube voltmeter for the range of low resistance values and by a vibration reed electrometer for the high- resistance values. The results showed that no change occurred in the electric conductivity of the glasses subjected to irradiation up to 10/sup 7/ r. Hence, gamma irradiation is not applicable for making semiconductive glass or glass- dosimeters. (OID)
