The distribution of the magnetic field in the median plane of the air gap of electromagnets of nuclear apparatus with weak or strong focusing (particle accelerators. particle spectrometers, etc.) is taken as the starting point. This distribution is characterized by a given index of the constant field as a function of the radius. The general analytical relations, valid in the entire air gap, of the characteristic magnitudes of the magnetic field were deduced. The scalar magnetic potential, the vectorial magnetic potential, and the magnetic induction were determined. The relations established were utilized to study the movement of the chatged particles in the nuclear apparatus mentioned and to determine the form of the pole pieces necessary to produce a given distribution of the magnetic field.
