LARGE BURSTS UNDER 10.5 cm OF LEAD IN IONIZATION

Journal Article · · J. Phys. Soc. Japan
OSTI ID:4754128

The integral size spectrum of ionization bursts observed near sea level in high-pressure ionization chambers under 10.5 cm of Pb is shown. The spectrum is in power law form with the exponent 2.08 plus or minus 0.08. The effects of altitude and barometer changes on burst frequencies are considered Implications of the results with regard to the generation of mu mesons are discussed. (A.G.W.)
