HIGH ENERGY GAMMA RAYS AND JET SHOWERS

Journal Article · · J. Phys. Soc. Japan
OSTI ID:4753701

Four stacks of emulsion and heavy mnterial were flown at about 220 g/cm/ sup 2/, and 3 stacks of similar composition were flown on balloons at altitudes ranging from 8 to 28 g/cm/sup 2/. Integral energy spectra of both nuclear events and gamma rays at each altitude are shown. The expected muon energy spectrum calculated from the rate of production of gamma rays is compared with measurements of the muon spectrum; no discrepancy appears. (A.G.W.)
