EVIDENCE FOR A T = 2 $pi$$pi$ RESONANCE AT 620 Mev

Journal Article · · Phys. Letters

The reactions pi /sup -/ + p yields pi /sup -/ + p + pi /sup +/ + pi /sup 0/ and pi /sup -/ + p yields pi /sup -/ + n + pi /sup -/ + pi /sup +/ + pi /sup +/ at 4 Bev/c were analyzed, and evidence was obtained for a T = 2 pi - pi resonance at 620 Mev effective mass and full width GAMMA approximately 75 Mev. Effective mass distribution curves are shown for various particle combinations from the events. Assuming the T = 2 particle decays strongly, the spin is predicted to be even and the parity and G-parity are both 1/ sup +/. (H.D.R.)
