THE PROBLEM OF THE RATIONAL APPLICATION OF COMPLEXONS FOR ACCELERATING THE ELIMINATION OF RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPES (Ce$sup 144$) (in Russian)
Experiments were carried out for determining the optimum dosage for reducing the Y and Ce contert of the soft tissue by administering diethylene trialaino pentaacetic acid (DTPA) and 2,2'-diamine diethyl ester of N, N, N', N'tetraacetic acid (DEETA). Ce/sup 144/ chloride was intraperitoneally injected into male white rats at a rate of 0.1 microcurie per gram of body weight; complexons were introduced in a similar mammer in the form of Na--Ca salts. It was found that an increase of the amount of the injected complexon results in a lowering of Ce/sup 144/ content of the organs. The effect is not additive, - subsequent injections were less effective than the first one. It was also shown that the DTPA and the DEETA should not be administered daily but on a less frequent schedule to avoid reduction of the effectiveness of the complexons. Further tests with labeled complexons are needed to clarify the question of the prolonged increase in the excretion of Ce/sup 144/ following the injection of the complexons, as was noted by others in the case of Y/sup 91/ and Pu/sup 239/.
