The effects of a new complexone, diethylenetriaminopentaacetic acid (DTPA), on the mobilization of Ce/sup 144/ and Pb/aup 210/ by tissues in rats were studied. Prolonged use of DTPA raised the removal of Ce/sup 144/ from the liver and skeleton of rats considerably. Also, there were actual differences in the degree of mobilization by the complexone of Ce from the tissues of male and female rats. The complexone DTPA was less effective in hastening the mobilization of Pb/sup 210/ from the tissues. Increase in dose of complexone practically to the maximum (200 mu moles per rat daily for 10 days) gave no marked strengthening of mobilization of Pb from the tissues. (P.C.H.)
