RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF A LARGE DEMAGNIFYING IMAGE INTENSIFIER. Quarterly Progress Report, January-March 1962

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4749970
A two-stage image intensifier, RCA C70062, is developed for intensification of nuclear tracks in large scintillation chambers. The first demagnifying stage has an S-20 photocathode on a 0.040-in.-thick, eight-in.-dia. glass faceplate. Fiber optics couples the short decay P15 phosphor of the first- stage to the cathode of the second-stage, which has a shutter grid for low voltage gating. The output screen is a one-in.-dia. P11. Parts were made and assemblies were started. (auth)
