SEMI-ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF A LARGE DEMAGNIFYING IMAGE INTENSIFIER. Period Covered July 1, 1961 to December 31, 1961

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4784030
The RCA developmental tube type C70035 with a revised mechanical structure was established as the first stage of the two-stage intensifier (C70062). A reduction of the number of parts and elimination of one heliarc weld simplified the assembly of this tube. Recent improvements in fiber optics will permit the acceptable coupling of the phosphor screen of the first stage to the cathode of the second stage. An electrostatically-focused, second-stage tube with a fiber optics coupler was designed and awaits analysis. (auth)
