Base level fission product activity levels for PWR Core 1 Seed 3 operations were slightly below base levels observed for Core 1 Seed 2 operations, indicating that the replacement seed had a relatively low U contamination level. Absolute contamination levels of the replacement seed could not be determined because of background activity from the blanket fuel. Mg/sup 56/ activity (Mn/ sup 56/ and Mn/sup 54/ were the only corrosion product activities determined) was up from Core 1 Seed 2 base level values. While the reason for the increase was not established it is concluded that the phenomenon is of little significance since even at the Seed 3 levels, Mn/sup 56/ constitutes less than 4% of the gross gamma activity one hour after sampling.
