Thesis submitted to Grenoble, France. Universite. A study was made of an electrostatic high-voltage generator having a voltage stability of the order of 10/sup -6/ per minute. This equipment can be used in electron microscopy. The electrostatic generator was studied as a control system element: transfer function, parasitic signals, and noise were determined and a mathematical model is proposed. A theoretical study of the openloop transfer function, stability, transient response, and voltage stabilization of five different control systems shows which one should be able to fulfill the requirements. A detailed study was made of drift. A description of the actual system and performance data are included. (auth)
