THERMOCOUPLE ATTACHMENT FOR THE INITIAL EOCR CORE

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4741372
Procedures used to formulate and evaluate a method of attaching thermocouples for instrumenting fuel plates of the EOCR are presented. The selection of high-temperature brazing as the method of surface-attaching thermocouples was based on testing that proved that brazeattached thermocouples could be calibrated and that they possess the physical strength required for reactor application. Non-destructive means can be used to obtain numerical factors necessary for correction of deviated thermocouple readings caused by variation in physical attachment. (auth)
