REACTOR CORE THERMOCOUPLE LOCATIONS (EOCR INITIAL CORE)

A fundamental heat transfer analysis of a plate-type reactor fuel element is applied, along with practical considerations, to determine the location of thermocouples to be attached to fuel plates in the EOCR core. The FTL sample and eight core driver elements instrumented with thermocouples will provide data necessary to evaluate core performance. Temperature indication will be used to monitor and attempt to control fuel plate fouling of the initial core. The selection of the elements to be instrumented and location of the thermocouples are presented. (H.G.G.)
