PRECISE BORING IN THE SENSITIVE VOLUME OF GEIGER-MUELLER COUNTERS BY MEANS OF PLASTIC SCINTILLATING FILAMENTS (in French)

Journal Article · · Nucl. Inst. Methods
Two plastic scintillating filaments of small diameter were set in coincidence and coupled with a radioactive source. The telescope produced defines a ilat beam of particles. This device makes possible a careful evaluation of the sensitive volume of a Geiger-Muller counter in coincidence with the telescope. This method is applied to glass walled and externally graphited counters and the variation of the sensitive volume as a function of some parameters is pointed out. (auth)
