IMPROVEMENTS RELATING TO COOLING MEANS FOR INSTRUMENTS, IN PARTICULAR FOR T.V. CAMERAS UTILIZED INSIDE NUCLEAR REACTOR

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4740408
A T. V. camera utilized inside a nuclear reactor is enclosed by a suitably cylindrical casing. The casing is subdivided into a central region and two annular regions by two porous cylindrical dividing walls. The camera is situated inside the central region while the annular space between the two porous walls is fed with a liquid having at the operating pressure a boiling point near the maximum admissible temperature of the camera. During the operation the liquid diffuses through the porous walls into the adjacent regions where it is immediately vaporized. By appropriate ducts this vapor is led to a heat exchanger from which the condensed vapor is refed to the casing. The bottom of the casing is closed by a double-walled window for the camera. (IIB)
