NUCLEAR REACTOR SUPPLYING SUPER-HEATED STEAM

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4694216
A design is given in which cylindrical channels are provided with supplementary fuel for superheating the steam supplied by centrifugal separating means. Preferably the supplementaty fuel is disposed within the channel in the form of a hollow cylinder while a tubular thermal insulating wall subdivides the annular interspace between the hollow fuel cylinder and the main fuel elements into a marginal region, where the steam is separated from the boiling liquid being in heat exchanging relationship with the main fuel elements, and into an inner region, through which the steara flows down in contact with the outside of the fuel cylinder, before it passes through the inside of the cylinder in order to leave the reactor at the top.
