NUCLEAR REACTOR INSTALLATION

Patent ·
OSTI ID:4740256
In a nuclear reactor installation the reactor is cooled by a vapor formed outside the reactor. This vapor coolant passes through the reactor in at least two circuits separated one from another, so that one circuit comprises the prime mover while another circuit comprises means for heat transfer to the vaporizers forming the vapor coolant. The circuit comprising the prime mover, e.g., a turbine, has at the reactor exit a working pressure higher than the working pressure at the reactor exit of the circuit comprising the heat transfer means. The fuel elements to which the higher pressure is applied are provided with a cladding more resistant to pressure and heat than the cladding of the fuel elements placed in another circuit. These fuel elements provided with a high resistant cladding enclose suitably enriched nuclear fuel. (IIB)
