CHANGES IN THE MORPHOLOGY OF "DRUMSTICKS" IN THE RABBIT AFTER PANIRRADIATION

Journal Article · · Boll. Soc. Ital. Biol. Sper.
OSTI ID:4739413
The morphology of the nucleus of circulating granulocytes was examined daily for 13 days in the blood of female rabbits irradiated with 200 r. The length of drumstickshaped nuclear segments rose slightly and progressively throughout this 13-day period. The length of these segments rose proportionally with the number of lobules per nuclei. It is suggested that these changes in nuclear morphology reflect changes in nuclear membrane structure caused by ionizing radiation. (H.H.D.)
