FIRST RESULTS ON THE ULTRASTRUCTURE MODIFICATIONS OF THE NEURONS OF THE GASSER GANGLION IN RATS FOLLOWING EXPOSURE TO IONIZING RADIATION (in Italian)

Journal Article · · Radiobiol. Latina
OSTI ID:4736037
The electron microscope was used to study the ultrastructural modifications of the nerve and glia cells of Gasser's ganglion in rnts following ionizing radiations. It was found that neuron alterations are more intense at the end of irradiation and tend to regress during the following hours, whereas there is an intensification of alterations in the satellite cells. It is concluded that neuron alterations in the late stage are most probably secondary to a primitive lesion of glial cells. (auth)
