TUNNEL DIODE AND COMMON-BASE TRANSISTOR CIRCUIT IN FAST ELECTRONICS AND FAST DECADE TRANSISTOR SCALERS

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4733425

BS>Tunnel diodes and common-base transistor circuits were investigated with respect to their use in fast nuclear electronics. The parallel and series- parallel combinations of the tunnel diode and comraon-base transistors are found to be extremely useful basic logic elements for scalers, discriminators and coincidences. Based on this investigation a 200 Mc/sec bistable circuit, a pulse shaper and discriminator with resolution of 8 nsec and a coincidence circuit with resolution of 4 nsec were developed. Two transistor scaling decades for 30 and 10 Mc/sec were developed. The experimental results of this work and the above mentioned circuit are presented. (auth)
