A detailed study was made of pi /sup -/ capture in hydrogenous substances, and the probabtlity of pi /sup -/ capture by hydrogen nuclei was determined as a function of the nuclear charge Z chemically bonded with hydrogen. The scheme of the experiment, made using a 75-Mev pi /sup -/ beam and a series of scintillation counters and Cherenkov spectrometers is included. (R.V.J.)
