An apparatus is designed for monitoring a number of coolant streams from a gas-cooled reactor for fission products as an indication of damaged fuel elements. The apparatus comprises a bank of precipitation chambers, a precipitation electrode extending through the chambers, and means for moving the electrode from the chambers to a bank of monltors. The gas inlet of each chamber is connected to a fuel element channel for continuous sampling. A cross matrix sampling system is also described. (D.L.C.)
