Patent ·
OSTI ID:4724466
A pressurized-water reactor is designed with an economical cortrol system. Control is effected by means of soluble poison (boric acid) in the coolant and boron dispersed in amounts of 500 ppm in the stainless steel clad of the fuel, in addition to the conventional control rods, which are used for fast reactivity changes. The reactor core is divided irto two zones, the outer zone having a higher content of fissile material than the inner zone. (D.L.C.)
