FUEL ELEMENT
Patent

OSTI ID:4740623
A reactor fuel element is designed with burnable poison in its cladding. The cladding is formed in two layers, the outer layer being a corrosion-resistant material, e.g., Zr, and the inner layer being a dispersion of boron in the corrosion-resistant material. Thus, boron does not come irto cortact with the reactor coolant and hence does not affect the corrosion rate. (D.L.C.)
