RESPONSE OF IONIZATION CHAMBERS FILLED WITH LIQUID HEXANE TO BEAMS OF FAST NEUTRONS (in French)

A parallel-plate-electrode ionization chamber is described that is filled with n-hexane. This chamber is able to detect neutrons, because of the ionization produced by recoil protons from neutron-scattering events within the chamber. The lower limits to the fluxes that can be measured with this chamber are 100 n/cm/sup 2//sec at 3 Mev and 1000 n/cm/sup 2//sec at 14.6 Mev. (T.F.H.)
