OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF IONIZATION CHAMBERS FILLED WITH LIQUID HEXANE (in French)

Measurements were made, at laboratory temperature, of the current flowing in liquid hexane-filled ionization chambers during alpha and gamma irradiation. The Jaffe theory applies when the electric field is below 12,000 v/ cm. Above this an amplification effect is produced in the detector analogous to that for gas-filled chambers. (tr-auth)
