Radiolysis in the absence of oxygen produced simultaneously linked carbonyl compounds and alcohol compounds. At low temperatures and in the presence of oxygen, peroxides and unlinked carbonyl compounds are formed, while at higher temperatures (over 10 deg C) linked peroxide and carbonyl compounds with l5 and 20 kcal/mole activation energies are formed.
