S>A review of I/sup 131/ trapping is given. The physical states of I in the atmosphere, production procedures, and sampling and detection methods are briefly described. The stopping of I/sup 131/ by different types of traps is examined. The metallic traps (columns filled with Cu and Ag) and the activated coals are considered. Some industrial filters are described; they use only activated coal or a combination of dust filter papers and coal filters. (auth)
