IMPORTANCE OF PARAMETERS--ANGLE OF ROTATION, DEPTH OF FOCUS, WIDTH OF FIELD, IN ROTATIONAL TELECOBALT THERAPY (in Italian)

To apply rotational therapy with Cobalt 60 sources, it is necessary to overcome the difficulties connected with a preliminary knowledge of dosage distribution in the treatment zone, taking into account, during the cycling rotation, the variations of both the source-to-skin distance and of the latter and the seat to be irradiated. With the use of a source of Co/sup 60/ it is necessary, as in normal voltage rotational therapy, to refer to the three pirameters: the pendulation angle to be chosen; the determination of the size of the field over the zone of treatment; the exact position of thc cycling rotation centre in the section of the body, to be irradiated. To this purpose a rather quick method is suggested, that is, use of the calculated diagrams and lists in the text, supplying exact data with slight differences. The eventual photographic dosimetry can give an immediate idea of the shape and position of the more important isodose charts, which nearly approach those obtained by calculation. (auth)
